Okay, so I’ve been dreaming about a Zimbabwe holiday for ages, and I finally made it happen! Here’s how the whole thing went down, from the initial spark of an idea to actually stepping foot on Zimbabwean soil.

The Planning Phase (aka Controlled Chaos)
First, I started with good old Google. Just typing in “Zimbabwe holiday” and seeing what popped up. I spent hours, seriously, just browsing travel blogs, looking at pictures, and getting a general feel for the place.
I knew I wanted to see Victoria Falls – it’s like, the main event, right? But I also wanted to experience more than just that. So I dug a little deeper, researching national parks like Hwange and Mana Pools. The wildlife photos were insane!
Then came the slightly less glamorous part: budgeting. I had to figure out flights, accommodation, park fees, the whole shebang. I used a spreadsheet (boring, I know, but necessary) to keep track of everything. It was a bit of a jigsaw puzzle, trying to fit everything in without breaking the bank.
- Flights: I checked multiple websites and airlines to find the best deals. Booking in advance definitely helped!
- Accommodation: I opted for a mix of lodges and campsites to get a varied experience.
- Visas: I made sure to check the visa requirements well in advance, just in case there were any delays.
Booking and Getting Ready
Once I had a rough itinerary and budget, I started booking things. This was both exciting and nerve-wracking! I double-checked everything, and triple-checked the dates, to avoid any silly mistakes.
I also started thinking about practical stuff. Like, what clothes to pack (layers are key!), what vaccinations I might need, and whether I needed any special gear (binoculars are a must!). I read a few packing lists online to make sure I didn’t forget anything crucial.

The Actual Trip!
Finally, the day arrived! I was so hyped. The flight was long, but I managed to get some sleep. And then, I was there – in Zimbabwe!
Victoria Falls was even more incredible in person. The sheer power and scale of it is just mind-blowing. I took a million photos (no shame!). Hwange National Park was amazing too – I saw elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras… the list goes on. It was like being in a nature documentary!
I met some really cool people along the way, both locals and fellow travelers. Sharing stories and experiences around a campfire was definitely a highlight.
The Return and Reflection
Coming home was bittersweet. I was sad to leave, but also so grateful for the incredible experience. I learned so much about Zimbabwe, its people, and its wildlife. It was definitely a trip I’ll never forget.
If you’re thinking about a Zimbabwe holiday, I say go for it! Just do your research, plan ahead, and be prepared for an adventure. It’s totally worth it!
