Okay, here’s my sharing about “Zero Waste Travel”, I hope you guys will like it.

So, I’ve been trying to get into this whole zero-waste thing, especially when I travel. It’s not as hard as it sounds, really. It all started when I saw a video about how much trash we create on trips. Man, that hit me hard. So, I thought, “Why not give it a shot?”
Getting Started
First thing I did was grab a reusable water bottle. I used to buy so much bottled water, it was ridiculous. Now, I just fill up my bottle at the hotel or any water fountain. Feels good not throwing away all those plastic bottles, you know?
Next, I got myself some solid toiletries. I found these cool shampoo bars, soap bars, and even solid toothpaste. They’re like regular products but without the water and plastic packaging. I stored these in metal tins.
Packing Essentials
- Reusable Water Bottle: Seriously, this is a game-changer. I got a nice stainless steel one. Keeps my water cold, too!
- Solid Toiletries: Shampoo bars, soap bars, solid toothpaste, you name it. I stored these in metal tins.
- Reusable Utensils: I found a neat little bamboo set. Fork, spoon, knife, chopsticks, and a straw. All in a cute pouch.
- Cloth Napkins: I just pack a few from my kitchen. Super handy for meals on the go.
- Reusable Bags: I always bring a couple of tote bags. They come in handy for groceries, souvenirs, whatever.
Making It Work
Once I had all my stuff, it was just a matter of remembering to use them. It was a bit of a learning curve, not gonna lie. There were times I forgot my bottle or my cutlery, but I got better at it.
I started planning my meals a bit more. Instead of grabbing takeout in plastic containers, I’d find places where I could dine in or use my own containers. Most places were cool with it once I explained what I was doing.

The Results
Honestly, it felt great. I wasn’t just doing it for the environment, though that’s a big part of it. It also made me feel more connected to the places I visited. I was more mindful of my choices, you know?
Plus, I ended up saving some money. Not buying bottled water or snacks wrapped in plastic really adds up. I felt less stressed about all the waste I saw around me and just enjoyed my trips a lot more.
Keeping It Going
I’m still learning, still trying to improve. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about making an effort. Every little bit helps, right? And it’s kinda fun, finding new ways to reduce waste. I found some solid lotion bars and solid toothpaste.
I hope this helps someone out there. Give it a try, even if it’s just one small change. You might be surprised how much of a difference it makes. Trust me, if I can do it, anyone can. Just start with one thing, like the water bottle, and go from there. You got this!
