Your ultimate list of must-attend music festivals across Europe this year, plan your epic summer now.

Man, things have felt kinda slow lately. You know how it is. Just felt this itch, this need to get out there, experience something big and loud again. Scrolling through the usual stuff online wasn’t cutting it. So, I figured, maybe it’s time for a proper adventure, like hitting up some music festivals over in Europe this year.

So I started digging around. Just basic searches, nothing fancy, like ‘best European festivals’ or whatever. And wow, the number of options that popped up was just insane. Seriously, you could spend a whole year just hopping from one festival to another if you had the cash and, well, the energy!

Had to narrow it down, obviously. Can’t be everywhere. Started thinking about what I actually wanted. Definitely needed good music, but also a good vibe, you know? Location matters too. Some of these places are miles from anywhere. I was looking at all sorts:

  • Those giant EDM fests, maybe Belgium or something?
  • Rock festivals, loads in Germany and the UK.
  • More indie stuff scattered all over.
  • Even some really niche ones in forests or on beaches.

After way too much screen time and going back and forth, a couple really started sticking in my mind. I kept coming back to them. I think I’ve kinda landed on a couple I seriously want to try and make happen.

First up, I’m really leaning towards Primavera Sound. Probably the one in Barcelona. Everyone raves about the city vibe alongside the music, and their lineups usually have a bit of everything I like, which is cool. It feels like a solid bet for great tunes and just a good time exploring the city too.

Then there’s Sziget in Budapest. This one just looks wild. Like, a whole week on an island, totally dedicated to music and arts and just madness. It seems less like just a festival and more like stepping into a different reality for a bit. Definitely appeals to the side of me wanting something totally different.

I’m also keeping Roskilde in Denmark on the radar. Heard it’s legendary, one of the old-school greats. Apparently, it has a really strong community feel, which sounds pretty cool too. Still gotta weigh that one up, see how timings and stuff work out.

So yeah, that’s the rough plan taking shape. Choosing them is the fun part, I guess. Now comes the less fun bit – actually sorting it all out. Gotta check ticket availability sharpish, figure out flights that don’t cost the earth, and then the whole where-to-sleep situation. Tent? Hostel? Haven’t even got that far yet. One step at a time, right?

Anyway, just wanted to share where my head’s at. Feels good to actually be planning something like this again after the last few weird years. Gives you something proper to look forward to. Anyone else got plans for European festivals this summer? Let me know!
