So, a while back, I got this idea in my head. I wanted to figure out which booze is the absolute worst. Not just, like, tastes bad, but the kind that messes you up the most, gives you the worst hangovers, and makes you question all your life choices.

Starting the Journey
First, I gathered a bunch of different types of alcohol. We’re talking the usual suspects: vodka, gin, rum, tequila, whiskey. But I also grabbed some of those cheap, sugary, flavored things that come in bright colors. You know, the stuff that’s like half alcohol, half regret.
The Experiment
Then, I started trying them out. Not all at once, obviously. That would be a disaster. I spaced it out, giving myself a few days between each drink to, you know, recover. And I made sure to eat a good meal beforehand and drink plenty of water, trying to keep things as “controlled” as possible. I recorded my experiences in detail.
- First up was this cheap tequila. Man, that stuff was rough. Burned going down, and the next day I felt like I’d been hit by a truck. Headache, nausea, the whole nine yards.
- Next, I tried some bottom-shelf vodka. Surprisingly, not as bad as the tequila. Still got a headache, but it was more manageable.
- Then there was this weird, blue raspberry-flavored thing. Tasted like straight-up candy, but the hangover was brutal. I think it was all the sugar. I was dragging all day.
- After that, I moved on to some rum. I’ve always been kind of okay with rum, so it wasn’t too bad. A little headache, but nothing I couldn’t handle.
- Whiskey was next. Now, I usually like whiskey, but this cheap stuff was just nasty. Gave me a headache that lasted for two days.
- Finally, I tried this bottom-shelf gin. Gin is a drink with a strong flavor of juniper berries. It tasted like medicine and made my stomach feel like a washing machine.
Conclusion
So, after all that “research,” what did I learn? Well, it’s not very scientific, but in my totally personal and not-at-all-expert opinion, the worst alcohol is a tie between cheap tequila and those sugary, flavored drinks. They both gave me the worst hangovers and made me feel like complete garbage. The bottom-shelf gin also is a strong contender, which made me feel nauseous. Honestly, though, I think any cheap booze is going to mess you up. It’s just not worth it. Stick to the good stuff, or better yet, just drink water. That’s what I’ll be doing from now on, at least most of the time.
