So, I had this really vivid dream last night, or maybe it was early this morning, you know how it is. It’s one of those that sticks with you, makes you feel a bit off all day. And this one? It was about a car accident. Not fun, let me tell you.

Drifting into the Dream

I remember just sort of… appearing in a car. I wasn’t driving, which is weird because I usually am, or at least I feel like I have some control. But nope, this time I was a passenger. The car wasn’t anything fancy, just a regular old sedan, maybe a bit beat up. It felt like nighttime, or at least very overcast, because everything outside was dim and kind of blurry, like when you’re trying to see through a dirty windshield.

I don’t remember who was driving. Their face was all fuzzy, like in most dreams. I wasn’t talking, they weren’t talking. It was just the sound of the engine and the tires on the road. There was this weird feeling of unease, you know? Like something was about to happen, but you can’t quite put your finger on it.

The Moments Before

We were going pretty fast, I think. Or maybe it just felt fast because of the darkness. I remember looking out the side window, seeing streetlights whizzing by, but they were smeared, like long yellow streaks. I had this knot in my stomach. I tried to say something, like “slow down” or “where are we going?” but the words just wouldn’t come out. It’s that classic dream paralysis thing, super frustrating.

Then, I saw these headlights. Bright. Coming right at us, from the wrong side of the road. Everything seemed to slow down, but also happen in a flash. Classic dream logic, right? One second it’s blurry darkness, the next it’s blinding light.

The Impact

This is the part that really got me. I don’t remember a loud crash sound, like you’d expect. It was more of a sickening thud and then this awful screeching, grinding noise. And the feeling… oh man. It was like being thrown around, but also like everything was crushing in. I squeezed my eyes shut in the dream. I think I braced myself, but what good does that do, really?

I didn’t feel pain, not exactly, but more like a massive jolt, a complete disorientation. It was more the idea of pain and the sheer terror of it all. Everything went black for a second in the dream.

Waking Up and Shaking it Off

And then, bam! I woke up. Heart pounding like a drum solo, sweating a bit too. I actually sat bolt upright in bed. For a good few seconds, I was totally confused, looking around my room, trying to figure out where I was. The relief when I realized it was just a dream was huge. Like, physically huge. I let out a breath I didn’t even know I was holding.

I got up, had some water. It took a while for that shaky feeling to go away. You know how dreams can just mess with your head? This was one of them. I kept replaying that image of the headlights, the feeling of impact. Ugh.

I’m not one to read too much into dreams, like “oh, this means I’m going to have a bad day” or something silly. But it definitely left me feeling a bit fragile today. Makes you think, you know? About how quickly things can change. Just a random, unsettling dream, but it’s amazing how real it can feel in the moment.

Anyway, that was my lovely nighttime adventure. Hopefully tonight’s dreams are a bit more chill. Maybe something about flying, or eating a giant pizza. Yeah, pizza sounds good.
