Okay, so today I decided to get my hands dirty and do something about the local ecosystem around my place. I’ve been reading a lot about how important it is to conserve these spaces, so I figured, why not start in my own backyard, literally!

Getting Started
First things first, I needed to see what I was working with. I grabbed my old boots and went outside to take a good look around the nearby creek and the small wooded area next to it. I noticed a lot of trash had accumulated – plastic bottles, wrappers, you name it. It was pretty disheartening to see.
The Cleanup
So, I grabbed some heavy-duty trash bags, some gloves and I just started picking stuff up. I filled up two whole bags just with the stuff I found along the creek bank! It was tiring, but super satisfying to see the area looking cleaner with every piece of trash I removed.
- Collected two full bags of trash.
- Mostly plastic and food wrappers.
- Some larger items like an old tire (how did that even get there?!).
Making a Difference
After the cleanup, the area looks so much better. I realised it just takes a little effort. The Next step,I plan to plant some native flowers and maybe even put up a small bird feeder. I want to do my part to help the local wildlife thrive.I figure if everyone did a little something like this, it would make a huge difference. It felt good to get outside, get some exercise, and do something positive for the environment. It’s definitely something I plan to do regularly from now on!
