Okay, so I was on a flight the other day, heading out for a short break. Managed to snag a window seat, which I always try to do. You know, gotta have that view.

Settling In
Finding my seat was the usual shuffle, getting the bag in the overhead bin. Finally sat down. The plane wasn’t super new, you could tell. The window looked okay, though, maybe a few little scratches but mostly clear. Buckled up, waited for everyone else to get sorted.
Takeoff was smooth. Love that feeling when the engines really roar and you get pushed back in your seat. Then we climbed, up through the first layer of clouds. It’s always cool breaking through that.
The View and The Shot
After we leveled out, maybe half an hour into the flight, I was just staring out the window. The clouds below were just… wow. Like a huge, fluffy white carpet stretching out forever. The sun was hitting it just right, making everything look super bright and clean. You could see the curve of the earth a little bit on the horizon, and the sky above was this deep, deep blue.
I thought, man, I gotta get a picture of this. It just looked too good not to.
So, I pulled out my phone. Here’s what I did:

- First, I wiped the inside of the window a bit with my sleeve. Didn’t help much with the outside smudges, obviously, but cleaned the inside glare a little.
- Then I tried getting the phone really close to the glass. You know, to cut down on reflections from inside the cabin. That helped quite a bit.
- Had to angle it slightly. Sometimes straight on gives you weird reflections or focuses on the scratches. Moved it around a little left, right, up, down.
- Took a few shots. Some with just the clouds, some trying to get a bit of the wing in for context. The wing shots are kinda classic, right?
- Checked the photos right away. Some were blurry, some had too much glare. But a couple of them? Pretty decent! Especially one just looking straight out over the sea of clouds.
End Result
The window itself wasn’t perfect, had that usual slight haze or tiny scratches you always get on planes. But the photo I liked best still captured that feeling, that vastness. The colors were great, that bright white and deep blue. Didn’t even need much editing later, just maybe cropped it slightly.
Yeah, just a simple thing, taking a picture out of a plane window. But sometimes those views are just amazing, and it feels good to capture a little bit of it. Always worth trying to get that window seat, I reckon.
