Okay, here is my blog post about my trip to Morocco:

Man, Morocco was a trip. I’d always wanted to go, and this year, I finally made it happen. Started with booking those flights, which, let me tell you, took some doing to find a decent deal. Once that was sorted, it was on to figuring out where to actually go once I landed. I spent days just scrolling through travel blogs and forums. Ended up deciding on a mix of big cities and some smaller spots.
Marrakech – The Red City
First stop, Marrakech. Flew in and was immediately hit with the hustle and bustle. I stayed in this cute little Riad in the Medina. You know, those traditional houses with the courtyards in the middle? Super charming. Spent my days getting lost in the souks, haggling for carpets and spices. Even took a cooking class and learned to make tagine. Let’s just say my kitchen skills are a work in progress, but it was fun!
- Navigating the Medina – a maze of alleys
- Trying all the street food – so good
- Visiting the Jardin Majorelle – Yves Saint Laurent’s old place, beautiful gardens
Essaouira – Coastal Vibes
After Marrakech, I took a bus to Essaouira, this chill coastal town. Way more laid back. Walked along the beach, watched the windsurfers, and just soaked up the relaxed atmosphere. The seafood there was amazing, straight from the ocean to my plate.
- Exploring the ramparts – old city walls, great views
- Hanging out at the harbor – watching the fishing boats
- Eating my weight in fresh seafood
Atlas Mountains – Hiking Adventures
Then it was off to the Atlas Mountains. Hired a local guide and did a couple of day hikes. The scenery was just stunning, all those mountains and valleys. It was tough going at times, but totally worth it for the views.
- Trekking through Berber villages
- Drinking mint tea with the locals
- Enjoying the peace and quiet of the mountains
Fes – Ancient History
Last stop was Fes, another big city, but with a completely different vibe to Marrakech. The Medina in Fes is even older and more confusing. Got lost a few times, but that’s part of the fun, right? Visited the famous tanneries, which, yeah, they smell pretty strong, but it’s fascinating to see how they make leather.

- Wandering the ancient streets of Fes el Bali
- Seeing the tanneries in action – intense, but interesting
- Buying some leather goods – had to, right?
Man, what a trip. Morocco really blew me away. The colors, the smells, the people, the history… it’s a lot to take in, but in the best way possible. If you’re thinking about going, just do it. You won’t regret it. And hey, if you need any tips, you know where to find me!
