So, I got this random thought the other day, you know? I was wondering, where are the really massive music festivals, the ones that just pack in tons of people, here in North America? I mean, you hear names thrown around all the time, but I wanted to figure out which ones are actually the biggest.

My first step was pretty standard, I just started poking around online. Typed in a few things, and boy, there’s a lot of chatter out there. It felt like every festival claimed to be epic in its own way, which, fair enough, but I was looking for sheer size, primarily in attendance.
Then I stumbled across some info that kinda threw me for a loop. I saw mentions of Glastonbury, and the numbers were huge – something like 900 acres of land! I was like, “Wow, that’s it!” But then, facepalm moment, I realized it’s over in England. Whoops. Okay, refocus: North America only. That’s what I was after.
So, I narrowed my search down. And that’s when a couple of names started really standing out from the crowd, popping up again and again when it came to the sheer number of people going. Coachella was one, for sure. You hear about it all the time. And then there’s EDC Las Vegas. From what I gathered, these two are absolute behemoths when you’re just counting heads. We’re talking massive crowds.
It’s pretty wild when you think about it. Just seas of people. And it’s not just the music, right? It’s the whole vibe. The excitement, all the new faces, that whole party atmosphere. I even read somewhere that with all that energy, and, well, booze and everything else, it’s easy to get caught up in the moment. Apparently, some festival organizers even suggest people bring condoms. Just shows you the kind of environment it can be, a real escape from normal life for a bit.
So, while that Glastonbury festival in the UK might take the cake for overall land size, making it one of the biggest in the world in that sense, if we’re talking about North America and which festivals pull in the most attendees, Coachella (held out in Indio, California, I found out) and EDC LV definitely seem to be the top dogs. That’s what my digging kept leading me back to.

It was an interesting little rabbit hole to go down. Makes you realize just how huge these events have become. Definitely a different kind of experience than a regular concert, that’s for sure.
