My Trip Through Menara Airport
Alright, let’s talk about my recent pass-through Menara Airport in Marrakech. Flew out of there not long ago.
Got dropped off outside. First impression? It looked pretty striking, especially with that unique pattern design on the outside. Definitely different from your usual glass and steel boxes.
Heading Inside
Walked in, and it felt quite spacious. Needed to find my check-in desk. Followed the signs, which were okay, mostly clear. Found the airline’s counter. The queue wasn’t horrendous, which was a relief. I really hate starting a trip stuck in a massive line.
Handed my passport and booking details over. The staff were polite enough, efficient I’d say. Weighed my bag, tagged it, and off it went on the belt. Standard procedure, nothing much to report there. Got my boarding pass.
Security Shuffle
Next up was security. Always a bit of a hassle, isn’t it? Laptops out, liquids in the tiny bag, belts off, shoes off sometimes. This time it was belts and laptops. The line moved steadily. Staff seemed professional, doing their checks. Got through without any beeps or extra searches, thankfully. Picked up my stuff from the tray and put myself back together.
Airside Views
Once I was through security, I wandered into the main departure lounge. Have to say, the inside architecture is impressive too. Lots of light coming through those patterned windows. It felt quite modern but still very Moroccan. Found a spot to sit down for a bit.
- Looked around the shops. Usual stuff mostly – souvenirs, perfumes, snacks.
- Checked the departure boards. My flight was on time, good news.
- Needed a drink, grabbed a bottle of water. Airport prices, of course, always sting a little.
People-watching is always interesting in airports. Lots of different folks heading to different places. Families, solo travelers, groups. It felt busy but not chaotic.
Getting on the Plane
Heard my gate announced. Made my way over there. It was a bit of a walk, but manageable. Reached the gate, waited for the boarding groups to be called. Mine came up, joined the line.
Showed my boarding pass and passport again at the gate. Walked down the jet bridge. Found my seat on the plane, stowed my carry-on.
Final Thoughts
So, that was Menara. Honestly, it was a pretty smooth experience. The building itself is memorable, way more interesting than many airports I’ve been through. Functionally, it did the job. Got me checked in, through security, and onto my flight without too much fuss. Can’t ask for much more than that really. Definitely one of the better-looking airports I’ve used lately.
