So, I finally made my way over to Piazza De Ferrari. Kept hearing it mentioned, you know, the big main square right in the middle of Genoa. Figured I should see what the fuss was about.

Getting There
Didn’t bother with any complicated routes. I just started walking from the old part of town. Seemed like the most straightforward thing to do. Just followed the general direction people were heading. Took maybe 15 minutes, weaving through some smaller streets and then boom, the space opened up.
First Look
Yeah, it’s definitely a major square. You feel it straight away. Big, wide open area surrounded by these grand-looking buildings. Lots of traffic buzzing around the edges, trams too. It felt like the real hub of the city, connecting the old streets I came from with the more modern looking avenues heading off.
The Fountain
And right there in the center, just like everyone says, is that massive fountain. Couldn’t miss it. It’s pretty huge, water going everywhere. Stood there for a bit watching it. Lots of people were doing the same, taking pictures and all that.
Just Hanging Around
I didn’t really have a plan. Just sort of ambled around the edges for a while. Sat on the steps near the fountain for a bit, watching everyone go by. It’s a busy spot, always something happening. Saw folks rushing to work, others just chilling like me. Tried to get a feel for the place.

- Walked around the whole perimeter.
- Checked out the facades of the buildings facing the square.
- Found a spot slightly away from the main crowd near one of the side streets.
It’s one of those places, you know? You see it in photos, but standing there, with the noise and the scale of it all, it’s different. You get why it’s considered the main square.
Wrapping Up
After maybe half an hour or so, felt like I’d seen it. Got the picture. It’s impressive, definitely central. Did the job, ticked the box for seeing Piazza De Ferrari. Then I just picked a street that looked interesting and wandered off to see what else was around.
