So, I’ve always been a huge fan of traveling, and one of the things I love most is hitting up local festivals. It’s such a cool way to really get into the culture of a place, you know? First off, I went to Nevada, U.S. I know it sounds crazy, but I’ve always wanted to go to Burning Man in Black Rock Desert. It’s like, this massive art and music thing in the middle of nowhere. I did some research online, booked my tickets, and just went for it. I got there and honestly, it was even wilder than I expected. Just a bunch of people letting loose and expressing themselves. And let me tell you, the art installations were awesome!
After that, I got more into it. I started planning my travels around festivals I thought sounded interesting. I tried to find some good lists of top festivals online, but they were all kind of generic, you know? Like, they’d mention the big ones, but not really give you the inside scoop. So, I figured I’d start keeping track of my own experiences and share them with people.
Then a friend of mine, Felix, he’s really into the whole festival scene, and he told me about this blog post, “Our Ultimate List: 20 Best Festivals Worldwide”. He said it was written by some guy named Bret L… published a few years ago. It was pretty good, though not perfect. It gave me some good ideas, but it was missing that personal touch, you know?
I wanted to add my own experiences. I started keeping notes on my phone, jotting down what I liked, what I didn’t, the crowds, the vibes, everything. Then I started taking photos, not just of the events, but of the little things too, like the food stalls, the people I met, even the weird signs I’d see around.
I realized that making a really good list of festivals wasn’t just about listing names and dates. It’s about capturing the feeling of being there. I tried to remember everything vividly.
And here I am today. I’ve been to a bunch of festivals now, big and small, and it’s been a blast. I’ve got a whole system now for documenting everything. I use my phone for quick notes and photos. And I have a little notebook that I carry around for more detailed thoughts.
It’s been a journey, for sure. But it’s been so worth it. I’ve met some amazing people, seen some incredible things, and learned a lot about different cultures. And now I get to share all of that with you guys, which is pretty awesome if you ask me.
My biggest takeaway from all of this? Just go for it. Don’t overthink it. Pick a festival that sounds cool, book your trip, and see what happens. You might be surprised at what you discover, and you’ll definitely have some stories to tell.
