Okay, so I finally got around to planning that trip to Huatulco, Mexico I’ve been talking about forever. First, I gotta say, just figuring out where exactly to go in Huatulco was a whole thing. It’s not just one town, it’s like a bunch of bays and beaches all strung together.

So, I started by just Googling “Huatulco things to do” and, you know, scrolling through a ton of pictures. I wanted somewhere chill, not super crowded with tourists, but still with some stuff going on. I looked at a bunch of different areas, like Tangolunda Bay, which seemed fancy but maybe a bit too resort-y for me, and then Santa Cruz Bay, which seemed more central.
Next, I dove into finding a place to stay. I’m not really a big resort person, so I checked out some smaller hotels and Airbnbs. I wanted something with a kitchen, so I could at least make my own breakfast and coffee, and maybe some simple meals. I ended up finding a cute little condo in a complex with a pool, which seemed perfect!
Then came the fun part – figuring out what to do! I knew I wanted to spend a lot of time on the beach, just relaxing and reading. But I also wanted to do some exploring. I found some boat tours that take you to different bays and beaches, some for snorkeling, some for just cruising around. I decided to book one of those for sure.
- Researching Beaches: I spent hours (maybe too many!) looking at pictures and reviews of different beaches. Playa La Entrega sounded good for snorkeling, and Playa Maguey looked super pretty.
- Finding Food: I looked up some local restaurants, too. I definitely want to try some authentic Oaxacan food. I read that there’s a good market in La Crucecita, so I’ll probably check that out for some fresh produce and maybe some street food.
- Getting Around: I figured out that taxis are pretty cheap, and there are also buses that go between the different bays. I’m thinking I’ll mostly use taxis, but it’s good to know the buses are there as an option.
The Result(so Far)
So, I’ve got my flights, my condo, and a rough plan of things to do. I’m leaving in a couple of weeks, and I’m super excited! It feels good to have it all planned out, but I’m also leaving some room for spontaneity. I’ll probably discover other cool things to do once I’m there. Now I have a basic travel plane of what I am gonna to do in there, I will write down what I do when I get there next time!
