Okay, so I wanted to get a really cool shot of the Vista Bridge in Portland, Oregon. I’ve seen some amazing pictures of it online, and I was determined to get my own.
First, I looked up the bridge’s actual name, you know, to be all official. Turns out it’s formally called the Vista Avenue Viaduct, but everyone just calls it the Vista Bridge. Good to know!
Finding the Spot
I spent a little time on google street view, trying to find the place, looking for the perfect view, The bridge itself is pretty long, so I wanted to make sure I was in the right spot to get the arches and the city skyline in the background.
- I packed my camera bag, making sure I had my go-to lens, the battery is full charged .
- I made my way to the bridge.I parked a few blocks away, figuring I’d walk around and explore a bit to find the best angle.
The Shoot Itself
I walked, I walked, and Finally, I found the spot. You know, the one where you just know it’s going to be good. It was a little bit off to the side, on a bit of a hill, which gave me a great elevated perspective, then set up my tripod and started snapping away. I played around with different settings, tried some long exposures,I ended up taking probably a hundred photos, just to be sure I got “the one”.
I’m pretty stoked with how they turned out! I’ll need to do some editing, of course, pick my favorites, and make some ajustments. That is my practice record today!
