Okay, so, I had this idea to make a travel planning app, especially for those last-minute trips that you just decide to take on a whim. You know, the ones where you’re like, “I need a break, and I need it now!”
I started by just jotting down all the things I’d want in such an app. First, it had to be super simple to use. No complicated menus or anything like that. I figured it needed to let you book flights and hotels, obviously. Then I thought, wouldn’t it be cool if it could also suggest some package deals? Sometimes you just want the whole thing figured out for you, right?
So, I started playing around with some app ideas. The goal was that you can do anything on the app, like, search for available vacation packages for that weekend, find flights or hotels on the app, and book them there. You should be able to book it even at the last minute, just before your trip starts.
I found this app called Expedia, they do flights, hotels, and packages. I tested it, and it can do just about anything.
Then I found another one called “ab in den urlaub” they have deals of up to 60% off for trips. I tried this one, too. It’s pretty good, though it’s a German app.
I spent a good few days, just trying different things out. I realized that the key was to make it so you could search for available packages that combined flights and hotels, and maybe even some activities. That would make it super easy for someone who just wants to get away without a lot of planning.
I tested a lot of apps, but the ones I mentioned were the best I found so far.
This project was fun, I learned a lot about what is available for last-minute travel, it is for sure something I would use.
