Okay, so I got curious about something the other day – what’s the average shoe size for women? I figured it’s probably changed over the years, you know, like how people are generally taller now than they were a century ago. So, I decided to do a little digging, just for fun.

First, I hit up some of those big online shoe stores. I figured they’d have some data, even if it’s just what sizes they sell the most of. I spent like, an hour just clicking around, looking at their size charts, and trying to get a general feel for what was common.
Then, I went down a rabbit hole on some forums. Turns out, lots of other people have wondered the same thing! There were tons of threads with women sharing their shoe sizes, and some people even posted informal polls. It was messy, but it gave me a broader, more “real world” sense of things, outside of just what the stores were selling.
My main takeaway is, it seems most common size is between a US women’s size 7 and 8. But I find out it’s, like, a HUGE range. I saw everything from tiny size 5s to size 12 and up, and everything in between,so it’s much more a bell curve.
