Okay, so check it, I decided to dive headfirst into figuring out things to do in Somalia. Why? Because why the hell not, right? It’s not your typical vacation spot, which makes it even more appealing.

First thing I did? Hit the books, or rather, the internet. I started by soaking up as much info as I could about the country. I read up on the history – damn, it’s a complicated one. Then I looked for travel blogs, articles, anything I could find from people who’d actually been there. Scouring forums and any scraps of useful info.
Next up, safety. Let’s be real, Somalia doesn’t exactly have the best rep when it comes to safety. So, I dug into travel advisories from different countries, trying to get a balanced view. Contacted people who claimed to have been there and got some advice.
Then I started trying to figure out logistics. Flights? Yeah, not a ton of options. Visas? A whole other headache. Accommodation? Forget your fancy resorts. This was gonna be a real adventure. I looked into getting help from some local guides, maybe some kind of security detail. Sounded bougie, but necessary.
Now, about the “things to do.” I wanted to see the beaches, hear the music, taste the food, and just experience the culture. But I was ready to adjust. Prepared to see some unexpected things, deal with problems on the ground.
It’s all still very much in the planning phase, but I’m diving deep. Stay tuned, I’ll try to keep you posted on my journey, as much as I can, assuming I actually make it there and back in one piece.
