My whole adventure at Paphos Airport

Right, so I had a flight out of Paphos International Airport last Tuesday afternoon. Figured I’d show up early, check things out properly, maybe grab a coffee and some souvenirs, you know? Here’s exactly what went down.

First, the entrance. Usual airport chaos, but on the smaller side. Got through security without too much fuss, they were moving things along alright. Luggage check-in was slow though, only two counters open for my airline. Took like 35 minutes just chucking my bags in.

Mission number one: Find free WiFi. Because obviously, needed to tell everyone I was at the airport. Looked around straight after security. Spotting the network? Easy. It’s listed as ‘Free Paphos Airport WiFi’ or something like that. Connecting to it? Different story.

  • First try, it asked for a password. Huh? Thought it was free.
  • Went to the info screen it mentioned. Filled in my name, email, country. Then it sent me a code.
  • Put the code in. Spinning wheel… then nothing. Connection dropped.
  • Tried again from scratch. Second code. Same thing. Almost chucked my phone, honestly.
  • Third time was the charm, maybe because I glared at it? Finally got the “You’re connected” message after like ten minutes messing about. Signal was okay near the gates, patchy elsewhere. Honestly, it felt like wrestling a bear just for basic internet. Free? Yeah. Easy? Not even close.

Now, shopping time. Went hunting for shops hoping to kill time and maybe find a cool gift. Reality check:

  • A couple of duty-free places selling the usual suspects: booze, perfume, chocolates. Prices were alright, I guess.
  • Saw one tiny newsagent kind of shop selling magazines, water, crisps. Basic travel stuff.
  • Looked for any local Cypriot stuff, like a proper souvenir shop? Forget it. Found zero. Seriously, nothing special from Cyprus itself. Bit disappointing if you’re after a little piece of the island.
  • Couple of small places selling snacks, drinks near the gates. Okay for a quick bite.

Food options? Don’t get excited. There’s basically:

  • A generic coffee shop place. Got a latte. Was meh. Just warm milk really.
  • A tiny fast food counter serving burgers, fries, the usual junk food airport fare.
  • That was pretty much it. Nothing fancy, nothing super appealing. Ate before I came, honestly. Good choice.

Seating by the gates was fine, enough chairs. Announcements came through clearly enough. Boarding started on time, actually. Small airport perk, maybe? Went smoothly.

So, the wrap-up? Paphos Airport gets the job done. You can fly out. You can eventually get free WiFi if you have the patience of a saint. You can buy basic snacks and drinks. Forget finding decent Cypriot souvenirs or any kind of interesting food. Don’t expect much, and you won’t be disappointed. It’s functional. Barely. There you have it. Whatever, I got to my flight.
