Alright, so today I’m gonna yap about my trip to Sarajevo Airport – Butmir Sarajevo Aerodrom, you know, the main one. It wasn’t exactly a walk in the park, lemme tell ya.

First off, I planned on getting there super early. Like, two hours before my flight, because that’s what everyone says you gotta do. So, I set my alarm, begrudgingly dragged myself outta bed, and wrestled with my suitcase.
The taxi ride was…interesting. The driver, nice fella, but he took the “scenic route,” which I’m pretty sure meant he was just trying to rack up the meter. We ended up stuck in traffic for ages. Started sweatin’ a bit, worried I’d miss my flight.
Finally arrived at the airport. It’s not huge, but it’s decent enough. The place was PACKED. Like, sardines in a can packed. I had to weave my way through a sea of people just to find the check-in counter.
Check-in itself was a bit of a nightmare. The line was long, and the lady behind the counter looked like she’d rather be anywhere else. She gave me the stink eye when I asked about my baggage allowance, and then proceeded to weigh my bag like five times before finally letting it go through.
Security was even worse. Shoes off, laptop out, liquids in a tiny bag – you know the drill. But the guy at the metal detector was super thorough. I swear he looked at me like I was trying to smuggle a nuke through security. Eventually, I cleared it, but my nerves were shot.

- Found my gate.
- Grabbed a coffee. Overpriced, naturally.
- Tried to relax. Keyword: tried.
Boarding was chaotic, as always. Everyone rushing to get on the plane first, even though we all had assigned seats. I just hung back and waited for the crowd to thin out before hopping on. Found my seat, crammed myself in, and finally, FINALLY, we took off.
The flight itself was uneventful, thankfully. But the whole airport experience? Ugh. Next time, I’m packing my patience and maybe a stress ball. Maybe I’ll even try getting there three hours early, just in case. You never know, right?
Overall, Butmir Sarajevo Aerodrom did its job. I got where I needed to go. But it definitely wasn’t the most relaxing experience. Just a heads-up if you’re planning a trip through there – be prepared!
