Alright, so the other day I decided to check out the Portland Vista Bridge. I’d heard about it, seen pictures, you know, the usual. But I wanted to experience it myself, get my own photos, and just see what the fuss was all about.

First, I did a little digging online. Nothing crazy, just trying to figure out the best way to get there, parking, stuff like that. It seemed pretty straightforward.
Getting There and Parking
I decided to drive. It’s just easier for me. I punched the address into my phone’s GPS and headed out. Finding the bridge itself was no problem. Parking, though? That was a bit trickier. It’s mostly street parking in a residential area, so you kind of have to circle around a bit and get lucky. I ended up finding a spot a few blocks away, which was fine. It gave me a chance to walk around the neighborhood a little.
Walking the Bridge
Then came the main event – walking across the bridge. Honestly, the views are pretty awesome. You can see a good chunk of Portland, and on a clear day, I bet you can see for miles. I spent a good amount of time just strolling back and forth, taking it all in.
Taking photos!
- Get high: The bridge is elevated, that’s good and great.
- Find some angles: Walk arround, and find the best position to take photos.
- Wait for the right light: I went in the late afternoon, the sun was starting to set, I think it is the best time.
Of course, I snapped a bunch of pictures. I’m no professional photographer, but I like to think I got a few decent shots. I just used my phone, nothing fancy. The panoramic mode was definitely my friend!
After I’d had my fill of the views, I headed back to my car. Overall, a successful little adventure! It’s a simple thing, really, just walking across a bridge, but it was a nice way to spend an afternoon and see a different perspective of the city.
