So, the other day I was scrolling through my phone, looking for a new beach spot to check out, and I stumbled upon this place called Playa Palmares. The pictures looked amazing, all blue waters and golden sands, so I thought, “Why not?” It’s supposed to be this chill beach about 6 km south of Puerto Vallarta’s downtown.

I grabbed my beach bag, threw in some sunscreen, a towel, and a book I probably wouldn’t read, and headed out. The drive down was pretty scenic. You get these awesome views of the coast, and it really gets you in that beachy mood.

When I got there, I parked my car and walked down to the beach. First thing I noticed? The sand is super fine and soft, perfect for just lounging around. I found a nice spot under a palm tree, laid out my towel, and just took in the scenery.

  • The water is seriously something else. It’s so clear and blue, you can see right through to the bottom in some places. I went for a swim, and it was so refreshing. Not too crowded, which was a huge plus.
  • I saw some people snorkeling, and they seemed to be having a blast. I didn’t bring my gear, but I definitely made a mental note to do that next time. I bet there are some cool fish and stuff to see out there.
  • After my swim, I just chilled on the sand, soaking up the sun and listening to the waves. It was super relaxing. There were a few other people around, but it wasn’t packed like some of the other beaches in Puerto Vallarta.

Finding food and drink

Then the hunger pangs hit, so I wandered back up to the street to find somewhere to eat. There aren’t a ton of options right there, but I did find this little seafood shack that looked promising. Ended up having some bomb fish tacos. Fresh, flavorful, and exactly what I needed.

All in all, Playa Palmares is a solid beach choice if you’re looking for something a bit more low-key than the main beaches in town. It’s beautiful, the water’s great, and it’s not overrun with tourists. Definitely worth the short drive from downtown.

I spent the rest of the afternoon just wandering around, taking some pictures, and enjoying the peaceful vibe. It’s the kind of place where you can really unwind and forget about your worries for a while.

As the sun started to set, I packed up my stuff and headed back to the car. Feeling refreshed, relaxed, and just overall stoked on the day. Playa Palmares, you did not disappoint! I’ll for sure be back again soon.
