Alright, let me tell you about my recent trip through Ubon Ratchathani International Airport. Flew in and out of there not too long ago.
Getting there was easy enough. Grabbed a ride, pulled up right outside. It’s not one of those massive, confusing places, which was a relief. Walked straight in, looked around to get my bearings. Felt pretty straightforward from the get-go.
Check-in Time
Needed to find my airline’s counter. Wasn’t hard, the signs were clear enough even if you just glanced around. I was flying one of the usual domestic carriers, can’t recall which one exactly right now, maybe Nok Air or AirAsia, they all kinda blend together after a while. Lined up, wasn’t a huge queue, thankfully. Moved pretty quick.
Got to the counter, handed over my passport or ID, whatever they needed. The staff were efficient, did the usual checks, weighed my bag. Slapped a tag on it, off it went on the belt. Got my boarding pass. Pretty standard stuff, no dramas.
Security and Waiting
Next up, security. Headed towards the signs pointing to departures. Again, not a massive operation. Took out my laptop, emptied my pockets into the tray. Walked through the scanner. Quick pat-down maybe? Can’t remember anything specific, which usually means it was smooth. Grabbed my stuff on the other side, packed my bag back up.
Once through security, I was in the departure lounge. Now, don’t expect a giant shopping mall. It’s a smaller regional airport, remember.

- A few shops selling snacks, drinks, maybe some souvenirs. Grabbed a bottle of water.
- Not a huge variety of food options, but enough if you needed a quick bite before boarding.
The vibe was pretty calm. People just sitting around, waiting for their flights. Checked the departure board, found my gate. It was all very close, no long walks needed.
Boarding and Takeoff
Waited near the gate. They made the boarding announcement eventually. Lined up again, showed my boarding pass and ID one last time. Walked out onto the tarmac – yeah, one of those where you walk outside to the plane. Climbed up the stairs, found my seat. Settled in.
The whole process, from arriving at the airport to sitting on the plane, felt pretty quick. No major hold-ups, no confusion. It just worked. For a smaller city airport, it did its job perfectly fine. Got me where I needed to go without any fuss. That’s really all you can ask for, isn’t it?
