My Little Adventure Finding an FLR Airport Map

Okay, so I was getting ready for a trip, flying into Florence, you know, Peretola Airport, or FLR as they call it. I like to be prepared, especially in airports I haven’t been to much. Makes things smoother, less running around like a headless chicken. So, first thing I thought was, I need a map of the inside of the terminal.

My first step was pretty basic, just hopped onto my computer and searched for ‘flr airport map’ or ‘florence airport terminal map’. Got a bunch of results, naturally. Some were just pictures on websites, kind of small and hard to read, honestly. Others looked like maybe ads or links to booking sites, not really what I was after.

I figured the official airport website would be the best bet. Finding that took a second, had to make sure I wasn’t on some lookalike site. Once I thought I was on the right one, I started clicking around. Looked under ‘Passenger Information’, ‘Services’, ‘Maps’… stuff like that. It wasn’t immediately obvious, I gotta say. Spent a few minutes clicking through menus.

Finally, tucked away somewhere, maybe under a ‘Prepare Your Trip’ section or something similar, I found it. It was often offered as a downloadable file, like a PDF. That was better, because then I could save it to my phone or even print it out if I wanted.

What the Map Showed

The map I eventually got hold of was pretty decent. It showed things like:

  • Check-in desk areas
  • Security control points
  • The departure gates (super important!)
  • Locations of restrooms
  • Some of the shops and food places
  • Baggage claim for arrivals

It wasn’t super detailed, like showing every single little shop, but it gave a good overview of the layout. You could see the general flow from check-in, through security, to the gates. That’s mainly what I needed – just to get my bearings before I even got there.

Overall, it took a little bit more effort than just a single click, but I found a usable map in the end. Definitely worth the five minutes of searching to feel a bit more confident navigating the airport when I landed. Always feels good to tick one more thing off the pre-travel checklist.
