Alright, guys, let’s dive into this “Rain Street” thing I messed around with. I’ve been wanting to create a kind of stylized, rainy street scene for a while, just for fun, you know?

So, first, I gathered some references. I looked at a bunch of photos of city streets at night, especially ones with that wet, reflective look after it rains. I wanted that vibe – blurry lights, slick surfaces, the whole deal.
Sketching It Out
Next, I opened up my trusty drawing software and started sketching. I kept it really loose, just blocking in the basic shapes – buildings, street, some lampposts. Nothing fancy, just getting the composition down. I played around with different perspectives, trying to find one that felt dynamic and interesting.
- Rough shapes of buildings
- Basic street layout
- Placement of light sources (lamps, windows)
Adding Some Color
Once I had a sketch I liked, I started throwing in some colors. I mostly used dark blues and purples for the overall atmosphere, then some brighter oranges and yellows for the lights. The key here was to keep the colors muted and desaturated, to really sell that nighttime, rainy feel.I even added some grey, to make it looks real.
The Rainy Effects
This is where it got fun. I experimented with a bunch of different techniques to simulate the rain and reflections. I used a combination of:
- Soft brushes to create a hazy, misty effect.
- Blur filters to soften the edges of the buildings and lights.
- Textured brushes to add some streaks and droplets to the surfaces.
I spent a good chunk of time just tweaking and adjusting these effects until they looked right. It was a lot of trial and error, but I think it paid off. The reflections on the street were particularly tricky – I wanted them to be noticeable, but not too distracting.

Finishing Touches
Finally, I added some small details – things like street signs, maybe a few cars in the distance, just to give the scene a bit more life. I also played around with the overall contrast and brightness to make sure everything was balanced.
And that’s all. I think it is a cool * you find it useful.
