Okay, so I’ve been digging into this whole Myers-Briggs thing, and the N vs. S thing particularly caught my eye. It’s all about how you take in information, right? So I figured, why not test it out on myself? I’m gonna walk you through exactly what I did.

First, I read up on what N (Intuition) and S (Sensing) actually mean. Seemed like N folks are all about the big picture, patterns, and future possibilities, while S folks are more focused on concrete details, facts, and what’s happening right now. Sounded simple enough, but I wanted to see it in action.
My Little Experiment
I decided to use a picture as a test subject, and try describing it using two different ways.
- Tried the S way first. I forced myself to focus on, the colors, shapes, how many of things were, and stuff like that. It was like, “Okay, there’s a blue square, a red circle next to it, three trees in the background…”. I was trying to be super specific, like a robot almost.
- Then, I switched gears and tried the N approach. Instead of listing details, I focused on the overall impression. I started to get, “Okay, this picture is so peaceful”. I started thinking about what the scene reminded me of, and then I was, “Is it a place where someone would go to escape?”, and finally, “What the artist might be saying”.
The Results
Honestly, I was struggled, it felt much more natural to jump to the big picture first. The detail stuff felt forced. It was like, “Yeah, yeah, blue square, got it. But what does it mean?”
So, after this little experiment, I’m leaning way more towards N. It just felt more… me. But this is just my personal, super unscientific experiment, so you know, take it with a grain of salt. The whole Myers-Briggs thing is more of a guideline, anyway, not a hard and fast rule, I think.
