Alright, so you wanna know about color aura meanings? Lemme tell you, I went down a bit of a rabbit hole with this stuff a while back. It wasn’t like I was seeking enlightenment or anything, more like I was bored and stumbled across some article online, you know?
My First Go at “Seeing” Auras
So, I read somewhere you could, like, see your own aura by staring at your hand against a white wall. Sounded easy enough. I spent a good ten minutes squinting at my fingers. Did I see a magnificent rainbow? Nope. Maybe a faint, kinda blurry outline, but I was pretty sure that was just my eyes playing tricks on me after staring too long. My kid came in and asked what I was doing, and I just said I was checking my nails. Embarrassing.
But, I’m a stubborn kinda person. If there’s something to “figure out,” I’ll poke at it. So, I started looking up what these aura colors are even supposed to mean. It was a whole new world. Every website had a slightly different take, which was the first red flag, to be honest. But okay, I kept digging.
What I Sort of Pieced Together About the Colors
After a bunch of reading and, yes, more squinting at my unsuspecting friends and family (from a distance, mostly), I started to get a feel for the common ideas. Here’s my very unofficial, totally personal take on some of them:
- Red: Everyone says this is passion, energy, anger, or being grounded. I dunno. Sometimes I’d look at someone who was super stressed, like really agitated, and I’d think I saw a muddy red. Or maybe I was just projecting ’cause they were bouncing their leg like crazy. When someone was genuinely fired up and excited, it felt… different. Brighter, maybe? It’s a tricky one.
- Orange: This one’s supposed to be creativity, emotions, joy. I did notice that my friend who’s an amazing painter, always full of ideas, sometimes she just felt… vibrant. I wouldn’t say I saw orange, but the vibe matched what I read. Could be coincidence, of course.
- Yellow: They say it’s intellect, optimism, playful energy. I tried to see this around people who were, like, really smart or telling jokes. Sometimes I felt a lighter kind of energy, but a distinct color? Nah. More often, if someone was really hyper, I’d just think they had too much coffee, not that they had a “yellow aura.”
- Green: Healing, growth, nature, love. This one I kinda vibed with a bit more. When I was out in my garden, feeling peaceful, I could imagine green. Or with people who are super nurturing and calm, there was a certain soothing feeling. Again, “seeing” it was a stretch, but the feeling sometimes matched the description.
- Blue: Communication, calmness, truth, intuition. This is a big one. People who are good listeners, or very calm speakers, I could sometimes associate a cool, steady feeling with them. Like a deep, calm water. But a glowing blue halo? Not really.
- Purple/Violet: Spirituality, wisdom, intuition, psychic abilities. This is the color everyone wants, right? The “enlightened” one. Honestly, I think some people just really like the color purple. I never “saw” this distinctly around anyone in a way that screamed “wise old sage.” Maybe I just don’t know enough wise old sages.
- Pink: Love, compassion, gentleness. This felt similar to green in a way. Around really kind, gentle souls, there’s definitely a soft, warm feeling. If that’s pink, cool.
- White: Purity, truth, angelic presence. Or, as I sometimes suspected, just really good lighting or my eyes being tired. Sometimes people would talk about a brilliant white light, and I’d just be like, “Are you sure you didn’t just look at a lamp?”
So, What’s the Deal? My Two Cents.
After all this “practice,” what do I really think? Honestly, I’m still not convinced I was ever truly seeing distinct, solid colors floating around people like in those fancy drawings. It felt more like I was becoming more sensitive to people’s moods and energies, and then my brain was maybe trying to associate those feelings with the color descriptions I’d read. Like a placebo effect, but for vibes?
I think there’s definitely something to being more aware of the energy people give off. You know how you can just feel when someone’s happy or upset without them saying a word? Maybe these “aura colors” are just a way some people have found to categorize those feelings or intuitions.

I don’t spend my days trying to spot auras anymore. It was an interesting experiment, though. Made me pay a bit more attention to the subtle cues people give off. So, maybe not a total waste of time squinting at walls and unsuspecting relatives. It’s one of those things, you either get it, or you think it’s a load of old nonsense. Me? I’m somewhere in the middle, leaning towards “interesting way to think about intuition.”
