The other day, I wanted to take a picture of my TV screen. You know, just a quick snapshot to share with my friends. But the photos I was taking were not clear at all.

So I was thinking, there must be a better way to do this. I did a little digging around and tried a few different things.
First, I learned that the TV screen is not just a static image. It’s actually a bunch of lines being scanned super fast, and it’s refreshed in like, halves. Something about 525 or 625 lines for non-HD TVs, and it might be totally different if it was some sort of a monitor. And if my room is too bright, that can mess things up too when I am taking pictures.
Here’s what I did:
-
Turned off the lights: I made the room as dark as possible. I closed the curtains and shut off all the lights.
-
Fiddled with my phone: I used my phone’s camera, and I played around with the settings, I tried to adjust some settings that can make the photos more clear, but I am not sure what these settings are doing actually.
-
Took lots of pictures: I just kept snapping photos. I tried different angles, different settings, you name it. And finally got a clear shot.
After all that, I finally managed to get a decent picture. It wasn’t perfect, but it was way better than my first attempts. It’s not as easy as it looks, but with a little patience, you can get a pretty good shot of your TV screen.
