Okay, so Liechtenstein, this tiny country sandwiched between Switzerland and Austria. I’d always been curious about it, so I decided, “Why not? Let’s go!”

Figuring Out the “How”

First things first, I looked up how to even get there. Turns out, Liechtenstein doesn’t have its own airport. The closest one is in Zurich, Switzerland. So, my plan started to form: fly to Zurich, then figure out the rest from there.

Zurich to…Where Exactly?

I booked a flight to Zurich. Pretty standard stuff. Once I landed, I headed straight to the train station – conveniently located right at the airport. I knew I needed to get to a border town, but which one? I asked around at the information booth, and a helpful lady suggested Sargans or Buchs in Switzerland, or Feldkirch in Austria. All of them have regular bus connections to Liechtenstein.

Train Time!

I decided on Sargans because it seemed like the quickest route on the map. I bought a train ticket – it wasn’t super cheap, but hey, it’s Switzerland! – and hopped on a train. The scenery was amazing, all mountains and green fields. I definitely recommend taking the train just for the views!

Bus to Vaduz

Once I arrived in Sargans, it was pretty easy to find the bus station. It’s basically right outside the train station. I found the bus heading to Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein. There are a bunch of different bus which can go to vaduz, I checked the bus schedule and confirmed with the driver to make sure it was the right one.

  • I remember it showed the destination as “Vaduz, Post”
  • I paid for my ticket on the bus.

Finally in Liechtenstein!

The bus ride was short and sweet. And just like that, I was in Vaduz! It’s a small city, but it felt pretty cool to be in a whole new country. I spent the day exploring, checking out the castle (you can’t miss it!), and just soaking in the atmosphere.

So, that’s how I got to Liechtenstein. It involved a plane, a train, and a bus, but it was totally doable and a really fun experience! I hope can go there again!
