Alright, so folks have been asking me about Cabo in December, what the weather’s really like. I actually went down there a couple of years back, right smack in the middle of December, so I can tell you firsthand what I ran into.

I remember I was looking to ditch the cold weather back home, you know? Just wanted some sun. Cabo came up, and I figured, “Hey, Mexico in December? Gotta be warm.” So, I packed pretty light – mostly shorts, t-shirts, flip-flops. Did toss in a light windbreaker, more out of habit than anything else. Didn’t really expect to need it much.
Getting There and Daytime Sun
So, I land there, and stepping off that plane, the air felt good. Not that sticky, soupy heat you sometimes get. It was warm, for sure, but more of a dry, comfortable warm. Definitely a good start.
The days, man, the days were pretty much spot on for what I wanted. Bright sunshine, clear blue skies almost every single day. I spent a ton of time by the pool, hit the beach a few times. The sun felt nice and strong – you definitely needed your sunscreen, no doubt about it. But it wasn’t that crazy, unbearable heat where you’re just sweating buckets doing nothing. I’d say high 70s, low 80s Fahrenheit (that’s mid-20s Celsius for you folks on that system). Perfect for lounging, swimming, all that good stuff. The ocean water, yeah, it was a bit brisk when you first jumped in, not gonna lie. Took a minute to get used to it, but then it felt amazing, super refreshing, especially with the sun beating down.
- Mornings started out a little cooler, maybe a light long sleeve for an early walk, but it warmed up real quick once the sun got higher.
- Midday to late afternoon was prime sunbathing and swimming time.
- Sunsets were epic, by the way. Clear skies made for some great views.
Okay, But What About the Evenings?
Now, here’s where things got a little different from what I maybe fully expected. Once that sun dipped, it cooled down. Noticeably. It wasn’t like, freezing cold, don’t get me wrong. If you’re coming from a place that’s got snow in December, you’ll still be laughing. But it was a definite temperature drop. That light windbreaker I packed? Yeah, I used it. Most evenings, if we were eating outside or walking around the marina, I was comfortable with a long-sleeve shirt or that light jacket. My wife, she definitely threw on a light sweater or a cardigan most nights.
I remember one night we were at an outdoor restaurant, right by the water, and a bit of a breeze picked up. I was glad I had something with long sleeves. Saw a few other tourists looking a bit shivery in just their t-shirts. So, you definitely want to pack for that. Don’t just bring your beachwear.

So, My Take on It
Honestly, December was a great time to be in Cabo, weather-wise. You get those beautiful, warm, sunny days for all the daytime activities. Then, the evenings cool down enough to be really comfortable for sleeping, and pleasant for dinners out, as long as you have an extra layer. It’s not that relentless, humid heat all day and all night. It’s a nice balance. I’d absolutely go back to Cabo in December. Just gotta remember to pack a little something for those cooler evenings, and you’ll be golden. That’s the real scoop from someone who’s actually been there and done it.
