Okay, so, my Nikon Z50’s autofocus started acting up. It just wouldn’t focus, like the motor was dead or something. I was pretty bummed because I rely on this camera for, well, everything.

Troubleshooting Time
First, I tried the obvious stuff. I switched lenses, thinking maybe it was just one lens acting wonky. Nope. Still no autofocus with any of my lenses.
Then, I made sure the AF-C/AF-S settings were correct, and I even toggled between them to see if that would kickstart anything. Still nothing.
I cleaned the lens contacts, both on the lenses and the camera body. I use those little pre-moistened wipes. I was super careful, but still no dice.
I checked for firmware updates. I was like, “Maybe there’s a bug fix!” But my camera was already up to date. Feeling defeated at this point.
- try different lens
- check af-c/af-s
- clean lens contacts
- check updates
Digging Deeper
I even reset the camera to factory settings. I was getting desperate, you know? I was thinking, “Maybe some weird setting got messed up.” After the reset… still the same problem.

I even listen carfully to the camera when i try to focus. I didn’t hear any noise.I mean, not even a tiny *’s wired!
Giving Up (Temporarily)
Finally, it will be sent to be repaired.I’m bummed that I couldn’t fix it myself, but it is what it is, and i hope to get it fixed.
