Hanapepe Lookout – A Must-See in Kauai, What You Need to Know Before You Go

Yesterday, I took a trip to Kauai. Such a beautiful island! I drove along Highway 50, heading to Waimea Canyon, and stumbled upon this little town called Hanapepe.

They call it “Kauai’s biggest little town,” and it’s got this old-timey charm. I decided to stop by the Hanapepe Valley Lookout ’cause I saw a sign. Parking was easy, right off the highway.

The view from the lookout is pretty awesome. You can see the whole Hanapepe Valley, with all its greenery. It’s not the most mind-blowing view ever, but it’s definitely worth a quick stop if you’re passing by.

What to Do in Hanapepe

  • Walk across the famous Swinging Bridge. It’s a bit wobbly, but kinda fun!
  • Check out the local shops and art galleries. It looks like they have some unique stuff.
  • Grab a bite to eat. There are a bunch of locally-owned restaurants around.

I didn’t have a ton of time, so I just enjoyed the view for a few minutes and then got back on the road. But if you have more time, Hanapepe seems like a cool place to explore. There’s even a historic swinging bridge that I wish I could have walked across, and also some local shops to visit.

Anyway, if you’re ever in Kauai and driving to Waimea Canyon, make a quick stop at the Hanapepe Valley Lookout. It’s a nice little break and a good way to see the beauty of the valley. And check out the town of Hanapepe itself if you’ve got the time!

That’s it for my little Hanapepe adventure. I hope this is helpful for anyone planning a trip to Kauai!
