Okay, so I’ve been trying to be a bit more eco-conscious lately, even when I travel. It’s, like, a whole thing, you know? So I wanted to share what I did, step by step.

My Eco-Friendly Trip Adventure
First, I picked my destination. Instead of flying across the world, I checked out some places closer to home that I could reach by train. Much better for the carbon footprint, you feel me?
Then, I started looking for accommodation. I totally avoided those massive, all-inclusive resorts. I figured they probably use tons of energy and water. I opted for a smaller, locally-owned guesthouse that I found. I also double-checked to see that the guesthouse was into sustainable practice.
- I always ask if they have solar energy.
- Recycling bins are important.
- And saving water is the top thing.
Packing was next. I made sure to bring my reusable water bottle, coffee cup, and shopping bags. No single-use plastics for this girl! I also packed light – less stuff means less weight, which means less fuel used for transport, right?
Once I got there, I tried to be mindful of my impact. I walked, cycled, or used public transport whenever possible. I ate at local restaurants that sourced their ingredients from nearby farms, supporting the local economy and reducing food miles. It tasted way better too!
I also made an effort to respect the local environment. I stuck to marked trails when hiking, avoided disturbing wildlife, and took all my trash with me. Leave no trace, as they say. Always!

Honestly, it wasn’t that hard to make these small changes. And it felt good knowing I was doing my bit to travel more responsibly. I think more people should give it a try. I am so happy I did. I feel so much better!
