That Night Was Something Else
So, I had one of those dreams last night. You know, the kind that just sticks with you, makes you feel weird all day. This one was a doozy. I dreamt I got shot. Right in the head.
I remember bits and pieces, mostly the feeling. It wasn’t about pain, not really. It was more about the shock, the suddenness. One moment, things were just… happening, dream-style, you know how nonsensical they can be. The next, this sudden impact, a flash, and then… nothing. Or maybe not nothing, but that feeling of fading, of it all just stopping. It’s hard to put into words, really. It wasn’t gory like in movies, just… final. That’s the word.
Waking up was the worst part, I think. I jolted awake, pretty sure my heart was trying to beat its way out of my chest. For a second, I was totally disoriented. That horrible feeling from the dream was still clinging to me. I actually reached up and touched my head, half-expecting… I don’t know what. Relief washed over me when I realized, “Okay, just a dream. A really messed up dream.”
Dealing With It The Next Day
But man, it lingered. Throughout the morning, I kept getting these flashes of it.
- Making coffee, and boom, the feeling of that sudden stop.
- Trying to read the news, and my mind would just drift back to that sensation.
- Even talking to my neighbor, I felt a bit out of it, like I was still processing the whole thing.
It wasn’t scary in a “monster under the bed” kind of way anymore. It was more… unsettling. It made me think about how fragile things are, you know? Just a weird, vivid reminder from my subconscious, I guess. I didn’t try to look up dream meanings or anything. I’ve found that usually just makes me overthink it more. Sometimes, a weird dream is just a weird dream. Your brain doing its nightly cleanup and throwing out some strange stuff.
I spent a bit of time just trying to shake it off. Listened to some music, went for a walk. Tried to focus on concrete things. Eventually, the intensity faded, but it’s definitely one of those dreams I’m gonna remember for a while. Not exactly a pleasant experience, but a memorable one, for sure. Just glad it was only a dream. Definitely glad about that.
