Okay, so the other day, I was planning a quick trip to New Mexico with my buddy, and he suddenly asked, “Wait, do we need a passport to go to New Mexico?” I was like, “Dude, seriously?” But then, I thought, maybe it’s not such a silly question. Some people might actually wonder about this, especially if they’re not from the US, or, you know, just haven’t traveled much within the country.
So, I started by doing what anyone would do – I grabbed my phone and Googled it. Just typed in “do you need a passport to go to New Mexico?”.
My Research Process (Sounds Fancy, Right?)
- First step: Google search. The results popped up instantly.
I saw that New Mexico is one of the 50 states and therefore No passport is needed.
- Second Step, I go to Quora, it is like an upgraded version of Yahoo Answers, and some people ask some similar questions, they said no, It’s part of the United States, I don’t need the passport.
- Third step: I want to be double sure, and I want to check some guys’ real trip, So I went to the Reddit.
I entered “travel new mexico passport” in the search bar.
Some travelers share their experence, They all said, driving to NM is no problem, so the passport is unnecessary.
So, after checking all of that, I felt pretty confident. I called my friend back and told him, “No, man, we’re good. New Mexico is part of the US. Just bring your driver’s license or any other state-issued ID, and we’re set.”
I went back to him and said, Relax, we just need a driver’s license!
It was a good reminder that sometimes, the simplest questions are worth double-checking. I mean, better safe than sorry, right? And honestly, it made for a good laugh between me and my friend.
