Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this “midan tahrir cairo” thing. I didn’t even know how to spell it at first, to be honest. I had to look it up. Turns out, it’s, like, a major public square in Cairo, Egypt. Who knew?

My Little Experiment
I started by, you know, just Googling it. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I found a bunch of pictures and some articles, it looked pretty impressive, big and sprawling.
Then, I figured I’d dig a little deeper. I went on a virtual journey, I guess you could say.
- I checked out some online maps. I zoomed in and out, you know, played around with the street view. Felt like I was almost there, minus the heat and the crowds, haha.
- I watched some videos. People walking around, driving through, even some protests… it’s a lively place, that’s for sure.
- I tried to find some local news. I don’t read Arabic, so that was a challenge. Thank goodness for online translation! Got a bit of a sense of what’s happening there, current events and all that.
It was actually pretty cool. I spent a good chunk of time just exploring this place from my computer. It’s amazing what you can find online these days. I feel like I got a tiny, tiny glimpse into what it’s like to be there.
I ended up getting a good mental image of it. I think it would be awesome.
