Okay, so I’ve been planning a big trip, and honestly, the itinerary part was stressing me out. Too many options, you know? So, I decided to get a little techy and see if I could make things easier. And guess what? It totally worked!
Figuring Out My Must-Sees
First things first, I needed to decide where I really wanted to go. I made a simple list. Just brainstormed all the places I’ve been dreaming about, no matter how realistic or far-fetched. This was the fun part – just letting my travel bug run wild.
Getting Organized with a Spreadsheet
Next, I opened up a good old spreadsheet. Nothing fancy, just something to keep track of everything. I made columns for:
- Place: The name of the city, landmark, or whatever.
- Priority: How much I wanted to see it (High, Medium, Low).
- Days: How many days I thought I’d want to spend there.
- Notes:Any random thoughts, like “try the famous pizza” or “check opening hours.”
I started filling it in with my brainstorm list. Seeing it all laid out like that helped me visualize the trip and start making some tough choices about what to cut and what to keep. It gave me a way better overview and I wasn’t scattered anymore.
Doing The “Dirty” Work
I started filling my spreadsheet in, city by * started to priorize some places, for example, my focus was in this specific city and I needed to fit it within my time limit, so, after a couple of hours it was looking more realistic and I felt it was truly possible.

I realized how useful this simple method of making an itinerary was. I was really happy that I had found a way to take a big, overwhelming task and break it down into manageable steps.
It’s not perfect, and I’m sure I’ll tweak things along the way, but I feel way more in control of my trip now. And I built the system myself!
