Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get back into photography, but I didn’t want to lug around a huge camera all the time. I wanted something I could just throw in my bag and go. That’s when I remembered those old Olympus point-and-shoots. I used to have one years ago and loved it!

So, first thing I did was hit up eBay. I mean, where else do you find vintage stuff these days? I searched for “Olympus portable camera” and scrolled through tons of listings. There were so many different models! It was kinda overwhelming, to be honest.
Choosing the Right One
I spent a good few hours just looking at pictures and reading descriptions. I wanted one that was in decent shape, you know? Not all beat up and scratched. And obviously, it had to be working. I finally narrowed it down to a few that looked promising.
- Read seller feedback. This is super important. You gotta make sure the person you’re buying from is legit.
- Check the photos carefully. Look for any signs of damage.
- Ask questions! If there’s anything you’re unsure about, just message the seller.
I ended up choosing an Olympus Stylus Epic. It looked really clean, and the seller had great feedback. Plus, it had that classic clamshell design that I always liked. I placed a bid and, after a few days of nail-biting, I won! Woohoo!
The Waiting Game
Waiting for it to arrive was torture. I was so excited to start shooting. I even went out and bought some 35mm film. I went with some basic Kodak Gold 200 because it’s pretty versatile. Finally, the package showed up! I ripped that thing open like it was Christmas morning.
First Impressions
The camera was even better than I expected. It was so small and light, perfect for carrying around. I loaded the film, which was surprisingly easy, and popped in a battery. Everything seemed to be working perfectly. I took a few test shots around the house, just to make sure.

Out and About
The next day, I took the camera with me on a walk around the neighborhood. It was so much fun! It felt so natural to just point and shoot. No fiddling with settings, no complicated menus. Just pure, simple photography.
I ended up shooting some nature, my dogs, random buildings, and I finished up the whole roll of film in one day! Then I took the film roll to a local shop.
Developing Process
I waited one week for developing, then I went to the shop to pick up my pictures. It was exciting! The color is kinda warm and beautiful!
I am so happy that I decide to do this Olympus portable camera shooting!
