Alright, so today I’m gonna walk you through how I did a super simple drawing of the Castillo de la Real Fuerza. I ain’t no artist, but I had some time to kill and thought, “Why not?” So, here’s the deal.

First, I grabbed a piece of paper and a pencil. Nothing fancy, just the usual stuff lying around. I always start with a light sketch, you know, just getting the basic shapes down. For the Castillo, it’s mostly squares and rectangles. I drew a big square for the main body of the fort. Didn’t worry too much about making it perfect at this stage.
Next, I added the towers. There are four of them, right? So, I drew four smaller squares on top of the big one, one at each corner. I made sure they were roughly the same size, but again, nothing too precise. This is just a quick sketch to see how things will look.
Then, I started to round things out a bit. Castles ain’t all sharp corners, are they? I curved the tops of the towers and added some little battlements. Just simple, blocky shapes. I also rounded off the edges of the main square a little. At this point, it started to look a bit more like a castle and less like a bunch of squares stuck together.
After that, I drew in some details. Like the entrance, which is basically an archway. I sketched that in, and then added a few windows here and there. Nothing too detailed, just little squares or rectangles. I also put in some lines to suggest the texture of the stone walls. Just short, random lines.
Now for the fun part: shading. I used my pencil to add some shadows to one side of the castle, to make it look three-dimensional. I shaded darker on the side away from the light, and lighter on the side facing the light. I also added some shadows around the windows and battlements. This really helped to bring the drawing to life.

Finally, I went over the whole thing with a slightly darker pencil to define the lines. I erased any stray marks or unnecessary sketch lines. And that was it! A super simple drawing of the Castillo de la Real Fuerza. It ain’t perfect, but it was a fun little project.
Here’s a quick recap of what I did:
- Drew basic shapes (squares and rectangles).
- Added towers and rounded corners.
- Drew in details like the entrance and windows.
- Added shading to create depth.
- Defined lines and erased stray marks.
Seriously, anyone can do this. Just grab a pencil and paper and give it a shot. You might surprise yourself!
Until next time, happy drawing!
