Okay, so this morning I woke up thinking, “I gotta try something different for breakfast.” I’m talking about a real Caribbean breakfast, not just my usual cereal or toast. I remembered reading somewhere online about how awesome Jamaican breakfasts are, and I figured, why not give it a shot?

First thing I did was hit up the internet. I typed in something like “Jamaican breakfast near me” and “Caribbean restaurants” into the search bar. I wanted to see if there were any places nearby that could give me a taste of the real deal. Found a couple of spots with good reviews, so I thought, “Cool, I can check those out later.”
But then I was like, “Wait a minute, why not try making it myself?” So I went back online and started looking for recipes. I saw a bunch of stuff about using fish, meat, and vegetables. Looked pretty hearty, you know? Not my usual breakfast, that’s for sure. I found a few different recipes, some with boiled stuff, some baked. They all looked pretty good, but also kind of complicated.
My “Caribbean Breakfast” Adventure
I decided to keep it simple for my first try. I didn’t have any weird ingredients at home, so I just grabbed some eggs, some veggies I had lying around, and some spices. I wasn’t really following a specific recipe, just kind of throwing things together and hoping for the best. I chopped up some onions, peppers, and tomatoes, and sautéed them in a pan. Then I scrambled some eggs with a bit of salt and pepper and added them to the veggies. It was kind of like an omelet, but with more stuff in it.
I also boiled some plantains because I saw that mentioned a lot in the recipes, and I really loved plantains. I just peeled them and dropped them in boiling water until they were soft. I sprinkled a little salt on them, and they were pretty tasty. Not sure if I did it right, but hey, it tasted good to me.
The Result
Honestly, it wasn’t exactly like the pictures I saw online. It was probably more like a “inspired by” Caribbean breakfast, rather than the real thing. But you know what? It was still pretty good! It was definitely more filling than my usual breakfast, and it was fun to try something new. The plantains were a nice touch, too. I might try to find a real Caribbean restaurant to get a better idea of what it’s supposed to taste like.

- What I did: Tried to make a Caribbean breakfast at home.
- What I used: Eggs, veggies, spices, plantains.
- How it went: Not perfect, but still tasty and fun.
- Next steps: Maybe try a real Caribbean restaurant next time.
So yeah, that was my little Caribbean breakfast adventure. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a good start. Maybe I’ll try a different recipe next time, or maybe I’ll just go to one of those restaurants I found online. Either way, I’m definitely going to have a Caribbean breakfast again sometime soon! Maybe you should try some too!
