Okay, so I’ve been meaning to try making bulkie rolls for a while now. I finally decided to give it a shot today. First, I needed a recipe, so I did a quick search online.

Finding a Recipe
I checked out a few different ones and finally settled on one that seemed pretty straightforward. It called for all-purpose flour, water, yeast, salt, and a little bit of sugar.
Mixing the Dough
I gathered all my ingredients. I mixed the dry ingredients in a big bowl, then slowly added the water while stirring everything together. It got pretty sticky!
- I started kneading the dough on a floured surface.
- At first it was really shaggy, but I just kept kneading and it slowly came together.
- I probably kneaded it for a good 10-15 minutes until it was smooth and elastic.
First Rise
I placed the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, covered it with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm spot. It took about an hour and a half, maybe two to double in size. It was pretty cool to see it puff up!
Shaping the Rolls
Once the dough had doubled, I punched it down (which was kind of satisfying) and turned it out onto my work surface. I divided the dough into equal pieces – I think I made about eight rolls. I shaped each piece into a round, trying to make them nice and smooth.
Second Rise
I placed the shaped rolls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, covered them loosely with plastic wrap, and let them rise again. This time it was only for about 30-45 minutes.

Baking Time!
I preheated my oven. While it was heating up, I brushed the tops of the rolls with a little bit of water. I then baked them until they were golden brown and sounded hollow when tapped. The kitchen smelled amazing!
The Finished Product
I took the rolls out of the oven and let them cool on a wire rack. They looked pretty good, if I do say so myself! I tried one while it was still warm, and it was soft and fluffy. I was really happy with how they turned out, especially since it was my first time making them. I will try these again soon for sure!
