Okay, so I’ve always been a HUGE drama geek. I mean, I live for the stage! So, I decided this year was THE year to finally hit up some of those world-famous theater festivals I’ve been drooling over online. I started by, you know, just Googling like a madman. “Best theater festivals,” “top drama festivals,” “must-see theater events”—you name it, I searched it.
My Research Frenzy
I ended up with, like, a million tabs open. So many options! I made a massive list, jotting down anything that sounded remotely interesting. Then came the hard part: narrowing it down. I had to be realistic, you know? Budget, travel time, the whole shebang.
Making the Tough Choices
- First, I figured out my budget. This immediately crossed off a few of the pricier festivals (sad face).
- Next, I looked at timing. I only had a certain amount of vacation time, so anything too long was out.
- Then, I really dug into the vibe of each festival. Did I want classic Shakespeare? Avant-garde experimental stuff? A mix of everything? This was KEY.

I planned my trip, booked my flights and accommodations (pro tip: book early for festivals!), and got ready for a theatrical adventure! Now that it’s all said and done, the whole plan was a total blast. The energy at those festivals is just electric. I saw some AMAZING shows, met some cool people, and basically just soaked up the whole atmosphere. It was completely worth all the research and planning.
