Okay, so I’ve been thinking about hitting up some music festivals this year, and Australia’s got a bunch that look pretty awesome. I figured, why not make a list and plan it out? So I did some digging, and here’s what I came up with, start to finish.

The Initial Brain Dump
First, I just jotted down every festival name I could think of or had heard about. Splendour in the Grass? Yep. Byron Bay Bluesfest? You bet. Groovin’ the Moo? Of course! It was a big, messy list, but it was a start. I think a got all of the music festivals that were top of mind.
Narrowing Down the Options
Next, I realized I needed to be realistic. I can’t go to every festival. Time, money, you know the drill. So, I started thinking about what kind of music I’m really into right now. Like, am I feeling more indie vibes, or am I craving some heavy beats? This helped me cross off a few that didn’t quite fit the bill.
Checking Dates and Locations
Then came the practical stuff. I pulled up my calendar and started matching festival dates with my schedule. Some were immediately out because I already had commitments. I also looked at locations. I enjoy traveling around.
Digging into Lineups
This is where it got fun. I started checking out the lineups for the festivals that were still in the running. I looked for artists I already love, and also listened to some new stuff from bands I hadn’t heard of. Some lineups were instantly appealing, others took a bit more research, and discovered some new favorites.
Budget, the reality check
I had to consider prices. Some festivals are way pricier than others. And it’s not just the ticket – I also need to budget, consider accomodations, and getting there.

Making the Final Picks
After all that, I finally narrowed it down to my top picks. It was tough! But I ended up with a solid list of festivals that I’m genuinely excited about, that fit my schedule, and that I think will be great time.
So, that was a lot more work to figure out than I imagined, but I enjoy doing it. It felt good to plan and have it all organized!
