Okay, so I’ve been meaning to check out Bach Ma Temple for a while now. It’s this super old temple in Hanoi, and I finally got around to doing it. Here’s how it went down.

Getting My Bearings

First things first, I looked up some basic info online. I found out it’s in the Old Quarter, which is pretty easy to get to. I decided to just grab a Grab bike – they’re everywhere in Hanoi, and it’s way cheaper than a taxi.

The Journey Begins

I hopped on the back of the bike, and we zipped through the crazy Hanoi traffic. It’s always an adventure, dodging scooters, cars, and street vendors! It took about 15 minutes, maybe a little longer because of the traffic, and I paid something.

Arriving at the Temple

We pulled up to this old-looking gate – that was it, Bach Ma Temple. Honestly, from the outside, it doesn’t look like much. It’s kind of tucked away amidst all the shops and hustle of the Old Quarter. I paid the driver, thanked him, and walked towards the entrance.

Exploring Inside

  • I stepped inside, and it was instantly quieter. It’s amazing how these temples can block out so much of the city noise.
  • There was a courtyard with some incense burning, and the main temple building was right in front of me.
  • I noticed the details – the carvings on the roof, the statues, the red and gold colors everywhere. It felt really… peaceful, you know?
  • I saw some locals praying, and there were a few other tourists around, too. I’m not super knowledgeable about the history, but I spent some time just wandering around and taking it all in.
  • I took some photos, trying to capture the atmosphere.

Finishing Up

I probably spent about 30-45 minutes there. It’s not a huge temple, but it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in the Old Quarter. After I felt like I’d seen everything, I walked back out into the bustling streets.

Overall, It was a cool experience. A nice little break from the chaos of Hanoi, and a chance to see a bit of the city’s history. I am very satisfied with the implementation and plan to visit again.
