So, I was chilling the other day, scrolling through TikTok, and saw something about “Veracruz food.” I was like, “Huh? What is Veracruz food?” I’d heard the name, knew it was in Mexico, but beyond that… nada. So, naturally, I went down a rabbit hole. A delicious rabbit hole, as it turns out.

First things first, I googled it. Plain and simple. “What food is Veracruz known for?” popped into the search bar, and I clicked. A bunch of articles came up, all talking about seafood. Okay, that’s a start. Apparently, Veracruz is on the coast, so that makes sense.

The one dish that kept coming up was Pescado a la Veracruzana. Sounds fancy, right? Basically, it’s fish (usually white fish) cooked in a tomato-based sauce with olives, capers, and onions. Now, I love olives, so I was already intrigued.

Next step? I had to find a recipe. I searched for a simple Pescado a la Veracruzana recipe online. Found a bunch of them, but most looked way too complicated. I’m not a chef, people! I just wanna eat good food. I picked one that seemed relatively straightforward.

Next, I seasoned the fish with salt and pepper and laid it in the sauce. I covered the pan and let it simmer until the fish was cooked through and flaky. The whole process took about 30 minutes, tops.

Finally, the moment of truth: eating. I served the Pescado a la Veracruzana with some rice and a side salad. And let me tell you, it was GOOD. Seriously good. The sauce was tangy and flavorful, and the fish was perfectly cooked. I ate the whole damn thing.

So, yeah, now I know what Veracruz food is known for: delicious seafood! And I even made some myself. I highly recommend trying it. It’s easy, it’s healthy, and it tastes amazing.
