So, I found myself passing through ANR Robinson International Airport not too long ago. It wasn’t my first time, but every visit feels a bit different, you know?
Getting There and Checking In
First off, getting to the airport itself was straightforward. Drove there, parked without much fuss. The parking area isn’t massive, but it does the job for the size of the place. Walked into the terminal. It’s definitely not one of those sprawling mega-airports, which honestly, I kind of appreciate sometimes. Less walking, less chance of getting lost.
Went straight to the check-in counter for my flight. There wasn’t much of a line, which was a relief. The airline staff were doing their thing, pretty standard stuff. Got my boarding pass, dropped off my bag. They were polite enough, efficient I guess. Moved through that part pretty quick.
Security and Waiting Around
Next up was security. Again, not a huge setup. Had to take out the usual suspects – laptop, liquids. The officers there seemed okay, just focused on getting people through. It felt less rushed than bigger airports, maybe because there just weren’t that many people.
Once through security, I was in the departure lounge. It’s… cozy. Definitely cozy. Not a ton of shops or fancy restaurants. Found a place to grab a coffee and a snack. Prices were airport prices, naturally. Found a seat and settled in to wait. Watched the planes outside for a bit. You get a decent view of the runway from some spots.

The vibe in the waiting area was pretty relaxed. Mostly locals and tourists, a mix. Heard a few different languages, but mostly English. Announcements were clear enough over the PA system.
Boarding and Takeoff
Boarding call came right on schedule. Lined up, showed my pass again. Walked out onto the tarmac to get to the plane – one of those things you don’t do much anymore at bigger places. Felt the Tobago breeze for a minute before climbing the stairs onto the aircraft.
Found my seat, got settled. The plane wasn’t full. We pushed back pretty much on time. Taxiing didn’t take long, given the airport’s size, and soon enough we were taking off.
Overall? ANR Robinson does what it needs to do. It gets you in, gets you out. No frills, not a lot of fuss. It’s a functional island airport. Gets the job done without pretending to be something it’s not. Just a straightforward experience, really. Nothing spectacular, nothing terrible. Just… travel.
