Getting Started

First off, I had to figure out where to even find this list. I hit up the usual spots, you know, the typical websites that pop up when you search for these things. I was like a digital explorer, charting unknown territories, but instead of a jungle, it was a bunch of web pages.

The Deep Dive

After clicking around, I finally landed on a few pages that seemed legit. They had these long lists of dates and names, and I was like, “Bingo!” But then, I realized I needed to organize this stuff. You can’t just have a bunch of dates floating around; that’s chaos.

Organizing the Data

So, I started copying and pasting (the digital equivalent of manual labor) these holidays into a document. I decided to create a simple list, nothing fancy, just to keep track. Here’s how I organized it:

  • New Year’s Day – January 1st
  • Liberation Day – March 3rd
  • Labor Day – May 1st
  • Saint George’s Day – May 6th
  • Saints Cyril and Methodius Day – May 24th
  • Unification Day – September 6th
  • Independence Day – September 22nd
  • National Awakening Day – November 1st
  • Christmas Eve – December 24th
  • Christmas Day – December 25th
  • Second Day of Christmas – December 26th

After I made my little list I read through it a bunch of times, I wanted to make sure I got everything right. No mistakes here, that’s the motto. Then I decided to add a few notes for myself for each holiday. Just little ideas of what I could do or what the holiday was about. My list is not just a list anymore it is a plan, a plan for fun.

Making it Visual

I love maps. So I thought, why not put these holidays on a map? I found a map of Bulgaria and started marking the dates. It was like creating my own little treasure map, but instead of gold, it was days off and celebrations. Each holiday became a little pin on the map, a little beacon of fun.

Reflecting on the Process

Looking back, it’s kind of funny how much effort I put into this. I mean it is a simple list when it is all said and done, but I wanted it to be perfect and usefull. Now, I’ve got this neat little guide to Bulgarian holidays, all organized and visualized. It is not just about knowing when the holidays are it is about making the most out of them.

So yeah, that’s my story about making a list of national holidays in Bulgaria. It was a bit of work, a bit of learning, and a lot of fun. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some holidays to plan for!
