Okay, so today I wanted to figure out exactly when the sunset was going to happen. You know, just for fun, maybe catch a nice view. Nothing too crazy, just a simple little project.
The First Try (and Fail)
First, I just straight-up asked Google. I typed in “sunset today”. I mean, Google knows everything, right? 🤣
I got a time, sure, but it felt…off. I realized it was probably just giving me a generic time for my general area, not my exact spot. And I wanted to be precise, you know?
Getting More Specific
So, I decided I needed to get my latitude and longitude. Back to Google! I searched for “what’s my latitude and longitude” and clicked on the first thing that came up. Easy peasy, It gave me my coordinates.
I copied those numbers down, because, let’s be real, who can remember all that?😂
Finding a Better Tool
Now that I had my coordinates, I needed a website that would let me plug them in and get a super-accurate sunset time. I think I googled something like “sunset time calculator latitude longitude” – I can’t remember the exact wording, to be honest. I just clicked on the link show me the result with input.
I found a website that looked promising. It had these little boxes where I could paste in my latitude and longitude. I carefully put the numbers in, hit the “calculate” button (or whatever it was called), and…boom! There it was. The exact sunset time, down to the minute.
The Results!
It turned out the sunset was going to be a little later than I initially thought. Good thing I checked, huh? It wasn’t anything groundbreaking, but it was satisfying to figure it out and know I had the precise time. I set myself a reminder and saw some great color that evening!
That’s all there is to it. It was not a tough job, but it was super satifying. Maybe I’ll do it again sometime! 😆
