Okay, so the other day I got this idea to check out some local organic farms. I’ve been trying to eat healthier and support local businesses, so I figured, why not combine the two? Thus started my journey on planning my organic food tour!

Getting Started
First, I jumped onto my laptop and started googling “organic farms near me.” A bunch of stuff popped up, some were just regular farms, others were markets selling organic stuff. I wanted the real deal, places where I could actually see the food growing.
Digging Deeper
I spent a good hour just clicking through different websites. Some were pretty basic, just a name and address. Others had photos, descriptions of their produce, and even info about tours! I made a list of the ones that looked promising, focusing on those that specifically mentioned tours or farm visits.
Narrowing it Down
My initial list was HUGE. Like, way too many to visit in one day, or even a weekend. So, I started to narrow it down based on a few things:
- Distance: I didn’t want to spend all day driving.
- Variety: I wanted to see different kinds of farms – veggies, fruits, maybe even some animals.
- Tour Availability: Did they actually offer tours, and when?
Making Contact
After whittling it down to my top three choices, I started contacting the farms. Some had online forms, others just had a phone number. I sent out a few emails and made a couple of calls. It was a little hit-or-miss. One place didn’t get back to me, another was booked solid for weeks, but the third one… jackpot!
The Winning Farm
They were super friendly on the phone, had a tour scheduled for the next day, and even offered to let me pick some of my own produce! I was stoked. I booked my spot right away.

Tour Day!
The next day, I headed out to the farm. It was amazing! The farmer showed us around, explained their growing methods (all organic, of course), and even let us sample some fresh-picked strawberries. I ended up buying a basket of veggies and some honey, feeling really good about supporting a local business and getting some healthy, delicious food.
The tomatoes were totally amazing, tasting different. I am so glad I went there!
I’m already planning my next farm tour. It’s a great way to spend a day, learn something new, and get some seriously good eats.
