Okay, so I decided to hit up some summer music festivals in Europe this year. I’ve always wanted to go, and this felt like the perfect time. Here’s how it all went down.
First Steps: Picking the Festivals
First, I looked at a bunch of festivals online. Seriously, there are SO many. I checked out some lists of the best European music festivals, read some reviews, and watched a few videos to get a feel for the vibes.
I narrowed it down based on a few things:
- Music Genre: I’m mostly into indie rock and electronic music, so I wanted festivals that had a good lineup of those.
- Location: I figured I’d pick places I also wanted to visit, making it a music trip AND a vacation.
- Dates: Obviously, I needed festivals that fit my summer schedule.
- Budget:I set the budget by myself for myself traval.
I finally settled on two: one in Spain and one in Croatia. They both had awesome artists I wanted to see, and the locations looked amazing.
Getting Tickets and Accommodation
Next up, tickets. I bought these online directly from the festival websites. It was pretty straightforward – just had to create an account and pay with my card. Pro tip: buy tickets early! They can sell out fast, and prices sometimes go up closer to the date.
For where to stay, I checked out a few options:
- Camping: Some festivals offer on-site camping, which can be super fun and cheap.
- Hostels: Great for meeting other travelers and usually pretty affordable.
- Hotels:If the budget is enough, it is better to book the hotels.
I ended up booking a mix of hostels and a little hotel for a bit of comfort, all close to the festival venues.
Packing and Prepping
Packing was next. I made a list to make sure I didn’t forget anything important. Essentials included:
- Clothes: Light, comfy stuff for hot weather.
- Sunscreen: Seriously, don’t forget this. European sun is no joke.
- Good shoes: I knew I’d be doing a lot of walking and dancing.
- Portable charger: For my phone, because taking photos and videos drains the battery fast.
- Reusable water bottle: Staying hydrated is key.
I also downloaded some offline maps and translator apps on my phone, just in case.
The Festival Experience!
Finally, it was time to go! Getting to the festivals was easy. I took the plane between cities and then used local buses or trains to get to the festival grounds.
At the festivals, I explored different stages, discovered new artists, and just soaked up the atmosphere. The music was incredible, and I met some really cool people from all over the world.
I also made sure to try the local food and drinks. It’s all part of the experience, right?
