Okay, so I wanted to get a real feel for the local events and festivals happening in major European cities. I wasn’t looking for just the big, touristy stuff, I wanted the authentic, local experiences. Here’s how I went about it:
Digging In
First, I started with some broad Google searches. I kept it simple, things like “local festivals London” or “community events Paris”. This gave me a good starting point, a few of the well-known events, but I knew I needed to go deeper.
Then I switched to more specific searches. I started looking for things like “neighborhood festivals Berlin” or “traditional celebrations Rome”. This is where things got interesting! I found some smaller, lesser-known events that sounded way more up my alley.
Getting Local Insights
I figured the best way to find out about truly local events was to, well, ask locals! So, I headed to some online forums. I joined some Facebook groups for expats and locals in different European cities. I just asked straightforward questions like, “What are your favorite local festivals that tourists usually miss?” People were surprisingly helpful and shared all sorts of cool events I’d never have found on my own.
